Accessibility is part of the reading experience we optimise for, not an afterthought. Here is what we do, what we know still falls short, and how to tell us when something blocks you.
Our aim is WCAG 2.2 level AA across every page we publish.
We are a small independent publisher and we make this commitment voluntarily; the site is not in scope of the public sector accessibility regulations.
Voluntary does not mean casual: accessibility issues are treated as defects, not suggestions.
What we do
Proper headings in order, landmarks, skip links, descriptive link text, alt text on meaningful images, and tables built as tables.
High-contrast text on calm backgrounds, a base type size around 20px on articles, generous line height, and layouts that reflow cleanly on small screens and at 200% zoom.
Everything interactive reachable and operable by keyboard, visible focus states, and no motion that cannot be ignored; we respect reduced-motion preferences.
Known limitations
Three honest gaps. The videos we curate play on YouTube and depend on the caption quality of their creators; we prefer captioned videos when choosing for the Video Desk. The Compass planning tool is an interactive prototype and its screen reader experience is still being improved; every fact it uses is also available as plain text in our guides. And some downloadable checklists render best as printed pages; ask us and we will provide the content in another format.
Testing
We test with keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom, and automated checks during design, and we re-test templates when they change. We do not claim full conformance until an external audit says so; until then our claim is simpler: we aim for WCAG 2.2 AA and we fix what fails it.
